Accidents at work
If you have suffered an accident whilst at work it is entirely normal for you to feel nervous about bringing a claim against your employer, especially if you are planning on returning to work. However, every year thousands of people do exactly that, and your employer should have insurance in place that will pay a compensation claim.
Accidents in the workplace can occur in a variety of ways. The most common types of accident at work relate to manual handling or falls. According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) more than 609,000 people in the UK suffered an injury at work during 2016/2017. The accidents affected a wide range of professions, from nurses to construction workers; office workers to farmers.
Your employer has a legal obligation to protect the health safety and welfare of employees and must do whatever is reasonable practicable to achieve this. Employers have a duty to assess the risks in a workplace and to provide training on how to deal with those risks. These are obligations that employers often get wrong.
Laws exist to not only prevent injuries and reduce risks, but to also ensure that employees are treated fairly if they decide to claim. Our team of experienced personal injury lawyers know the law, and how best to apply it to ensure that you get the compensation you deserve.
