The pacemaker defibrillator device was manufactured by St Judes Medical, an American company. The claim proceeded under the Consumer Protection Act 1987 against the manufacturer/supplier, alleging that the product was defective.
The Claimant had the device fitted, which failed after just two years. The client, who was only 50 years of age, was rushed to A&E and transferred to a coronary care unit and required a major operation to remove the defective device and replace it. The claimant required three further major operations as a consequence of the defective product.
The case has concluded, with a sum of just over £140k recovered.
